Good Day Mr. Cucchi,
My name is Sara, I'm twenty, and every year, always in the company of different people - mother, grandparents, friends - I make a "pilgrimage" to Bussero to stand in front of your tree.
Not just once, but many times - to admire this wonderful work.
I'm writing to you above all to send you my compliments, but also to thank you for the emotions you have enabled me to experience all these years.
To thank you for all the times that you have filled me with wonder, left me speechless, to see such a an unusual, appealing, and colourful spectacle.
When I stood in front of the tree, I seemed to be in contemplation.
Everyone so fascinated, silent - and above all in the company of others.
There was always someone, from the youngest to the oldest.
Last Sunday my neighbours gave me the videocassette "The Joyful Tree" and I was amazed by the message of hope printed on the cassette and repeated during the film, which sent shivers down my spine.
Whenever I'm sad or down-hearted I'll be able to watch this end-of-the-millennium event to cheer me up again, and think that there is still someone around who does something worthwhile for others.
Thank you for entertaining us also this year; you have brought me unforgettable moments of magic
at the side of people I love. Holding their hands, unpleasant memories, anxieties and fears just disappeared.
It is really true that those lights are a distant lighthouse, and the light that we see always clears away the gloom.
We also can bring light to others.
With the hope that next year it may be filled with even more light…
THANKS.
With affection
